Elizabeth "Bette" R. Schilling
Elizabeth "Bette" Rose Schilling, resident of Cloquet, MN passed away on Monday April 29, 2019, at Evergreen Knoll in Cloquet, MN at the age of 94 years. Bette was born in Cloquet, MN on November 19, 1924. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1943 where she was a member of the marching band. She was united in marriage to Edgar James Schilling at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cloquet on November 30, 1946. Bette was a lifelong Cloquet resident, a devout member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and a former member of Big Lake Golf Club. In addition to maintaining a wonderful home for her family, she was a member of the church choir, and was engaged in a variety of crafts. Most recently she was a part of a church group that made and distributed beautiful quilts for newborns.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Schilling (married 57 years); her parents, Leonard and Alice Proulx of Cloquet; and her grandson, Benjamin Schilling. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Carter, and her brother, James Proulx. Bette has many devoted descendants who miss her deeply. She has three surviving sons, Robert Schilling (wife Sandra Harris), Timothy Schilling (wife Mei), and Eugene Schilling (wife Anne). Bette was blessed with nine surviving grandchildren including, Stephen Schilling, Samantha Schilling, Christine Schilling, Nicholas Schilling, Joshua Schilling, Angela Schilling, Melissa Johnson, Sarah Walt and James Schilling. Given her long life, she also enjoyed ten great-grandchildren including, Owen Schilling, Connor Schilling, Olivia Schilling, William Dunkman, Henry Dunkman, Emily Dunkman, Megan Schilling, Payten Weiderman, Jonas Johnson, and Gunnar Walt.
Visitation hours for Bette Rose Schilling will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, MN on Monday, May 20, 2019. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will follow at New Calvary Cemetery of Cloquet, followed with a luncheon in the church social hall.
