Scott Raymond Marshall II

Scott Raymond Marshall II, age 71, of Fox Island, WA, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Scott was born to Scott Raymond Marshall and Alma (Nesseth) Marshall on July 22, 1946 in Cloquet, MN. Scott was a 1964 graduate of Cloquet High School. Following graduation he began college for a short time but decided to join the US Army in 1966. He was very proud of his military service. Like his Father he became an M. P. and served at the Presidio of San Francisco and also served at CentCom at Stuttgart, Germany as an exec during Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1969. He later went on to complete college at Colorado State University - Fort Collins with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wood Science and Technology and a Master's degree in Wood Chemistry. It was during his time in Colorado when he married Linda Helstrom of Cloquet, MN. Upon graduation from CSU in 1976, he began his career at the Weyerhaeuser Company in Federal Way, WA in 1977 where he worked until retirement as Vice President of the Timberlands Division in 2012. During his career at Weyerhaeuser he gained a wealth of information and an MBA from the University of Oregon. He was sought after by many for his vast knowledge of timberlands and strategic planning. This made him a valuable resource and a member of many professional boards. He served on the College of Natural Resources' Dean's Advancement Council and served as the chairman for the College of Natural Resources' Annual Fund. In addition to career related boards, he was a very compassionate and generous member of community project organizations including the Tacoma Children's Museum and Mary Bridge Children's Foundation. He was also active in the Fox Island Yacht Club.

In 2005, he married his long-time sweetie Sandy Howitt. Together they enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, cooking for family and friends and most importantly spending time with their six (6) grandchildren. He had a special alter-ego: "Scooter" the Clown. After graduating from clown school with a close friend, he was known to make special appearances as Scooter at local events.

Scott was a man adored and admired by many. He was truly one-of-a-kind and his kindness and generosity spoke volumes. He touched many many lives and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Marshall, son Robb (Cara) Marshall, daughter Amy (Mat) Bergman, step son Joel (Denise) Howitt, sister Mary (Mike) Marshall-Engen, sister Kathey (Bob Eckert) Marshall, grandchildren Luke, Hailey, Caden, Reece, Hudson and Kate and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Scott and Alma Marshall and first wife, Linda Marshall.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1-4p.m. at the Foss Waterway Seaport in Tacoma, WA.
