Mildred "Milly" (Pykkonen) Virgin

Mildred "Milly" (Pykkonen) Virgin, 87, of Beaverton, Oregon passed away from cancer on October 9, 2017 in her home. She was born in Cloquet on January 28, 1930, to Andrew and Hulda Marie "Mary" (Helberg) Pykkonen. Milly was raised in Esko with her siblings and graduated from Esko High School.

Milly was a devoted wife and mother. She worked at several secretarial jobs before retiring from Intel in Beaverton as a Process Quality Technician. Milly was passionate about gardening, traveling, spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee any time of the day and having a glass of good wine. She received many compliments for the interior design detail in her home renovations and was a long-time member of the Jacktown Women's Club. Through the years, she enjoyed attending symphonies, plays and the theater. Milly was known for being optimistic, open, curious, and quiet, with a subtle sense of humor. She will be missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Guy; and brother-in-law, Tom McKeever.

Milly is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary; son, Garth; and siblings, Helen (Paul) Koski, Donald (Ardeth) Pykkonen, Edna McKeever and Mavis (Richard) Singpiel.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Celebration of Milly's life, Sunday, November 19, 2017 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Esko, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Cemetery Fund.
