Across the 10-county region of the Northland, 159 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus and one more person has died.
The individual who died was a St. Louis County resident between the ages of 90-94, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
Minnesota reported a total of 20 deaths from the illness on Saturday while Wisconsin reported 59. None of the other deaths were recorded in the Northland.
Additionally, St. Louis County recorded 63 more people infected with the virus, putting the county's latest 7-day average of new cases at 67.6 new cases a week.

Wisconsin
- Douglas — 21 new cases; 14.7 new cases a day.
- Bayfield — 10 new cases; 8.9 new cases a day.
- Ashland — 9 new cases; 6.1 new cases a day.
Statewide, Minnesota reported 3,021 more infections and Wisconsin reported 5,278.
Completed diagnostic tests were up by 35,479 in Minnesota and 14,853 in Wisconsin. Minnesota's single-day testing positivity rate — the percentage of tests that have come back positive — was 8.5%.
Wisconsin's single-day positivity rate was 35.5%. The state's latest 7-day average rate calculates to 28.8%.
Higher education
St. Louis County has reported 22 new infections tied to higher education institutions in the county during the week of Oct. 19 to Oct. 25, which was the last day the county reported new cases linked to college campuses.
Nearly 92% of all infections linked to college campuses since Aug. 4 have been those living in private residences while the remaining have lived in campus housing.
All public colleges and universities in the Northland publish known cases in the form of an online dashboard. However, each school reports their cases at different points in the week.
During the week of Oct. 18-24, the state's health department has reported 14 new infections tied to the University of Minnesota Duluth. Nine of those people were on campus while infected, according to contact tracing interviews, and two of those people live on campus.
Lake Superior College in Duluth has had nine new infections in students and one new infection in an employee during the week of Oct. 22-28, according to the Minnesota State College and Universities system's dashboard.

New employee and student cases in other Minnesota State system schools:
- Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet — 1 employee case; 1 student case.
- Hibbing Community College — 3 student cases.
- Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids — 1 employee case; 1 student case.
Since Sept. 8 the University of Wisconsin Superior has administered more than 1,600 antigen diagnostic tests to students living in the dorms. All residential students are required to get tested every two weeks.
The final test results for UW-Superior's fourth and most recent round of testing were shared Monday. One more residential student has tested positive, putting the total number of new cases in the most recent round of testing at three.
The UW system's COVID-19 dashboard does not include employee infections or cases in students living off campus.
