Three more people in Northeastern Minnesota have died from COVID-19 and its complications as of Friday.

St. Louis, Carlton and Koochiching counties each logged one more death. The residents from St. Louis and Koochiching counties were in their 90s and the Carlton County resident was in their 70s, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

St. Louis County has now lost 226 residents to the illness, Carlton County has lost 39 and 10 Koochiching County residents have died.

The deaths were among 48 that Minnesota reported statewide Friday. The state also reported 2,387 new cases. Of those, 114 are residents of Northeastern Minnesota's seven counties.

Wisconsin reported 40 deaths and 3,474 more cases, 35 of which were in the three counties in Northwestern Wisconsin.
