We come to you again this week as so many other weeks this past year with the passing of a community icon from Cromwell. Dick Huhta will be missed in the area and especially at the round table in the mornings at the Country Inn in Cromwell. He was one of the real movers and shakers in Cromwell and his legacy will last for years to come. So, with that we offer our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Richard “Dickie” Louis Huhta, 73, of Cromwell who passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell. A Masonic service was held in the Cromwell Pavilion and a service was held on Dec. 17 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Spring interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.

Kathryn Arlene Jolliffe, 72, of Wright died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Her funeral service was on Dec. 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wright, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Wright.

I recently got this email from Wanda Kisler Alamzan that I’d like to share: “We are all good. I had three granddaughters born since July. My son and his family from Japan will be with me for Christmas. That makes me happy. He is stationed at the Marine base in Iwakuni for three years. My other Marine son will be home for Christmas, too. He is stationed in North Carolina. We get to see him more often. I am planning a trip to Las Vegas in January to see my newest granddaughter. They are stationed at the Nellis Air Force Base there. My youngest just got her driver’s license... yay!!! It takes a load off me when she can get herself where she needs to go! I love my job as a nutrition assistant at the high school and I help do some catering. Life is good!”

The dinner served at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday for the Cantata was fantastic. Barb Dahl is just phenomenal in her cooking and baking abilities. And she really outdid herself with this meal. By the way, the program was great, too, and brought back so many great memories for so the many folks who attended.

The area food shelf thanks the local residents for their donations of fresh produce this past growing season to our local food shelf, Tri-Community Food Shelf. They were greatly appreciated. Also, just a reminder that they need monetary donations all year long to keep the food shelf stocked.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s Sunday School Christmas program is on Dec. 22, at 9 a.m. during church. Everyone is welcome.
