There's no doubt the Wrenshall track team suffered a bit due to a lack of athletes, but senior standout Andrea Gould once again made it to state and was ranked as the state's 15th best in the shot put.
"She didn't do as well as she wanted to due to medical problems, but it was good to see her get down there," said coach Andy Wyman.
By the end of the season, the girls team was down to Gould and senior Christie Bunge, who ran the 400-meter dash.
The boys had nine athletes on their roster and most were junior high age, Wyman said. Junior Dylan Shelton advanced to sections in the 100-meter hurdles while senior Dave Conley narrowly missed sections in three races, Wyman said.
With so many young athletes, Wyman is hopeful they can build up the program and spark the interest of more girls in coming years.
