Wrenshall boys beat Cromwell, Cherry

Wrenshall went 2-1 over a three-game stretch this past week in boys basketball. The Wrens picked up wins over Cromwell and Cherry and then fell to Floodwood on Tuesday night.

Wrenshall went 2-1 over a three-game stretch this past week in boys basketball. The Wrens picked up wins over Cromwell and Cherry and then fell to Floodwood on Tuesday night.

On Thursday the Wrens downed Cromwell 73-54 behind the 22 points of Aaron Mettling and 17 points from Chris Hansmann. Jon Bartczak and Evan Swanson each added 10 points, Jordan Berglund and Brendon Menze both scored six, and Kyle Ziebarth finished with a pair of points.

Johnson and John Ammesmaki led the Cards with 12 and 11 points, respectively, Tyler Burgraff scored nine, John Hedin finished with five, Cody Hendrickson and Levi Scheff both scored four points, while Grant Odegaard, Adam Smith and Jordan Smith all finished with three points for Cromwell.

  • On Monday night, the Wrens pulled away with a strong second half effort to defeat Cherry 70-57.

Mettling and Ziebarth both scored 16, it was 10 each for Hansmann and Swanson, Berglund scored seven, Bartczak recorded five, and Menze added six points.
The Wrens led 32-31 at halftime, but then outscored the Tigers by 12 points in the second half to gain the victory.

  • On Tuesday night the Wrens trailed Floodwood by one at the half and then fell 65-61 at the hands of the Polar Bears.

Swanson and Hansmann led the offensive effort with 13 each, Ziebarth scored 11, Mettling finished with nine, Menze scored seven, Bartczak added four, while Berglund and John Moder each had a pair of points.
