There was little doubt early in the game on Tuesday night that Wrenshall would pick up another win this girls basketball season. The Wrens built a 42-18 halftime lead and delivered the 23rd win over the season to their fans and school with a 72-36 victory over Cook County.

Wrenshall used superior scoring depth and strong defense to down the Vikings and secure the victory. Andrea Gould led all scorers with 21 points, Danielle Anderson finished with 16, it was 12 for Samantha Anderson and Emma Grover was also in double figure scoring with 10. Wendy Bowman also contributed eight points for Wrenshall, while Erin Laveau finished with five.

The win gives the Wrens a school record 23 victories and a gaudy 23-2 record on the season along with fifth place in the Minnesota Class A girls rankings.

Christina Nelson led the Vikings with 14 points and Essa Jacobsen added 11 points.

  • Saturday night, the Wrens started slowly against Onamia, but eventually secured another victory, this time a 67-44 win. Again Gould led the charge with 20 points, Danielle Anderson finished with 19, it was 17 for Samantha Anderson, Erin Laveau added seven and both Samantha Laveau and Stephanie Shea scored two.

Melissa Agnew led Onamia with 16 points.
