Wrens stay undefeated

Chalk up another victory for the undefeated Wrenshall girls basketball team! The Wrens, ranked No. 4 in state Class A, sprinted ahead of the young Floodwood Polar Bears early and then cruised to a 94-49 victory on Thursday night.

Chalk up another victory for the undefeated Wrenshall girls basketball team! The Wrens, ranked No. 4 in state Class A, sprinted ahead of the young Floodwood Polar Bears early and then cruised to a 94-49 victory on Thursday night.

"We jumped out to a 47-28 halftime lead and won on the road," commented Neil Dickenson head coach of the Wrens. "Floodwood has some very good, talented young players and the future is looking good for them."

Andrea Gould, the Wrens center, continued a torrid streak by scoring 29 points and hauling down 14 rebounds.

"Samantha Anderson and Emma Grover hit some three-point shots to open up the game," explained Dickenson. "We have scored most of our points in the paint this season and it was great to see us hit some outside shots."

Anderson had three long-range bombs and finished with 27 points, while Grover connected on four-of-eight from outside the arc and finished with 18 points. For the game, the Wrens hit for eight three-pointers in the game.

Also scoring for the Wrens were Danielle Anderson with 13 points, Justine Dickenson added five points, Erin Laveau and Wendy Bowman each finished with three points and Samantha Laveau scored a point.

Kasey Palmer led the Polar Bears with 13 points and was the only player in double figures for Floodwood.
