If local basketball afficiandos need proof that the Wrenshall girls basketball team is the real deal this season, they only need look to their undefeated record and to how well the team is playing thus far in the season. The Wrens emphasized the point last week by scoring over 90 points in back-to-back wins over Cotton and Isle.

Thursday night, the Wrens flew by the Cotton Cardinals 91-52 after storming to a 55-21 halftime lead. Danielle Anderson scored 29 points, Samantha Anderson added 20 points and Andrea Gould scored 18 points as the big three combined for 67 points in helping the Wrens to the victory. Also scoring for Wrenshall were Emma Grover with eight points, Wendy Bowman with seven, six points for Erin Laveau, and Samantha Laveau finished with three points.

Trisha Frye led the Cardinals with 15 points and both Amanda Chapman and Lynn Schneider scored 10 points.

  • On Friday night, the Wrens continued their run with a 91-41 victory over Isle. As in the Cotton game, the Wrens jumped out early and held a 41-19 halftime lead.

Samantha Anderson pumped in 34 points with 12 of those coming from the three-point line. Gould scored 17 points, Danielle Anderson and Emma Grover each finished with 14 points, Erin Laveau added six, Bowman had four points and it was a pair of points for Stephanie Shea.
Gould and Grover each finished with double-doubles in the game. Gould had 17 points and 15 rebounds and Grover finished with 14 points and 14 assists.

The win was the eighth in a row for the Wrens who are now 8-0 on the season and ranked No. 4 in the state Class A basketball polls.
