Wendy's Restaurants presented a $17,000 check to Minnesota Youth Hockey at the Minnesota Wild game March 27.
Wendy's is donating a portion of its proceeds from the sale of the "Minnesota Wild Bacon Cheeseburger" in its restaurants throughout Minnesota during January through March.
"Our partnership with the Wendy's organization helps increase awareness of hockey throughout the state of Minnesota and the educational programs we offer," said Mark Jorgensen, executive director of Minnesota Hockey. "Thanks to Wendy's generous contribution, we can continue to implement new programs and initiatives to help Minnesota youth have fun and strengthen their hockey skills."
Minnesota Hockey is nationally recognized for its programs aimed at training, educating and nurturing players, coaches, officials and parents. Comprised entirely of volunteers, its programs include scholarships, skill development, satellite training and hockey for people with disabilities.
"Dave Thomas, the found of Wendy's, taught us the importance of giving back to the community," said Mike Givens, president of FourCrown, Inc., the largest Wendy's franchisee in Minnesota. "This promotion was a great opportunity to offer our support to Minnesota's young hockey athletes.
