Thursday: Fog gradually improves through the morning as temperatures rise past the dew points, lingering directly over Lake Superior as we've been seeing the last few days. Once the fog clears, sunshine dominates with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and low 90s. The responsible area of high pressure will also keep winds light, so we can't count on the natural A/C of Lake Superior.

Heat indices will be well into the 90s Friday and Saturday, Independence Day. Staying hydrated and frequently applying sunscreen will be critical for any outdoor activities. Keep in mind how quickly cars can heat up on days like this as well, and bring pets inside or into shade.

Friday: Mostly sunny. High 87. E wind 2-8 mph.

Independence Day: Partly cloudy with a slight chance for thunderstorms. High 86. SW 5-10 mph.

Sunday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 81.
