School already delayed for Monday as snow continues

Both the Cloquet and Carlton Public Schools will be delayed 2 hours Monday, April 16, because of the ongoing winter weather. Bulldog Kids Care will open at its normal time, and there will be no morning preschool.

The latest National Weather Service winter weather warning (2:51 p.m. Sunday, April 15) still shows "a continued trend for moderate and heavy snowfall" into the evening hours, with northwest Wisconsin getting the brunt of the storm. Read the entire report below:

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGENational Weather Service Duluth MN251 PM CDT Sun Apr 15 2018...HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS ACROSS NORTHWEST WISCONSIN AND PORTIONS OF MINNESOTA THROUGH TONIGHT....An early spring storm system continues to affect the region
through tonight, impacting all of northwest Wisconsin and partsof northeast and east central Minnesota. Satellite and radarimagery indicate a continued trend for moderate to heavy snowfall,with winds becoming favorable for lake-enhanced bands of snow todevelop. Snowfall rates have exceeded an inch per hour at timesand these rates will continue into the evening hours. Inaddition, low visibility is expected because of strong northeastwinds that will accompany the falling snow. The wind and snowwill combine to produce blizzard conditions into this evening inparts of northwest Wisconsin from Superior east towards Bayfieldand Ashland, resulting in near impossible travel conditions. Windswill gradually decrease after midnight tonight resulting inimproving visibility.
