Kendra Waller stayed undefeated, and the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls alpine ski team took second place in the Lake Superior Conference meet last Friday. The CEC boys team finished a respectable third in the LSC Meet held at Spirit Mountain on Thursday.
Waller has not been beaten this season and skied unbelievably well with a winning combined time of 1:32.43, over two seconds faster than runner-up Kate Maurer of Duluth Marshall.
"Kendra skied solidly as usual and she has won every meet she has raced in this season. You can't ask for much more than that," said CEC coach Ryan Zimny. "Nicole Zauhar also skied well as our second girl finisher."
Zauhar took eighth place while CEC's Eliza Grames and Katrina Anderson finished right behind at ninth and 10th, respectively.
Marshall won the girls race with 107 points, CEC was second with 96, followed by Hermantown, Denfeld and Ashland.

Hermantown took boys honors with 99 points, Marshall was second with 98, CEC took third with 95, followed by Denfeld and Ashland.
"We were missing our usual top boys racer with John Green being out," explained Zimny. "Nick Grames solidly stepped into the top seed and finished second place to take All Conference honors. A couple of untimely falls dropped the boys team into third, but that's racing."
CEC's Derek Smith finished eighth and was the only other CEC skier to finish in the top 10 on the boys side of the ledger.
