Every year, the Planetarium at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) encourages people to look up at the stars and contemplate the vastness of our universe as part of International Astronomy Day. This year’s event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and the general public is invited to visit and enjoy free activities.

Activities will include constellation shows, universe tours, virtual reality demonstrations, full-dome planetarium movies and hands-on activities for all ages. More information is available via the Planetarium website, https://scse.d.umn.edu/marshall-w-alworth-planetarium/events .

All of the days’ events are free and open to the public.

“This is an ideal activity for families and a great way to spark curiosity about science and learning more about our world,” said Planetarium Director Marc Seigar.
