Timothy John Johnson Sr., 60, a life-long resident of Carlton, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his home with his beloved family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He graduated from Carlton High School in 1965 and also served four years with the United States Navy. Tim was united in marriage to Ruby Bro of Carlton on Sept. 23, 1967. Tim worked 10 years at Conwed and for a short time at Superwood. He retired from the DM&IR Railway in Proctor after 26 years of employment.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Albert C. Johnson, Jr.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Ruby; two sons, Timothy Jr. (Tegan) of Carlton and Douglas (Carrie) of Esko; five grandchildren, Bryan, Timmy, Erik, Erin and Annika Johnson; two sisters, Patricia (Richard) Nygren of Carlton and Wendie Line of Sussex, Wis.; his sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Carlton; Aunt Mariam Hella of Cloquet; his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Mary Bro of Cloquet; three sisters-in-law, Peggy (Dave) Timo of Duluth, Judy Ekholm of Cloquet and Linda Curtis of Phoenix; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Tim loved his family very much and truly adored his five grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kenneth Ripp of Cloquet and the doctors and staff of St. Luke's oncology for their kindness during Tim's illness.

Visitation will be from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service, Thursday, Oct. 25, in Bethesda Lutheran Church, Carlton. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Carlton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carlton County Historical Society or St. Luke's Hospice.
