All three individuals arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Moose Lake man in late August made appearances in Carlton County Court this week.
Steven Ross Shotley, 20, whose last name in an amended complaint is listed as Chatelaine, appeared in court again Wednesday for a settlement conference.
"There is a possible settlement deal on the table," his attorney, Joanna Wiegert, said in court.
She requested a continuance of two weeks in order to review the agreement with her client. Shotley, of Cloquet, pled not guilty in mid-September to two counts of attempted second-degree murder, three counts of assault and one count of first-degree burglary in the incident. His next court appearance was set for Wednesday, Nov. 26. Shotley remains in Carlton County Jail.
Moose Lake resident Jessi Marie Lees, 27, who allegedly drove the get-away car after the stabbing, pleaded guilty to the same charges in late September and in a court appearance Monday had her settlement conference reset for Monday, Nov. 17. She also has a trial date set for Nov. 17 if a settlement is not reached and remains in Carlton County jail while her case proceeds.

Daisy Nell Hopson-Johnson, 50, was arrested in late September and pled not guilty to first degree assault, first degree burglary and two counts of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon for her alleged role in conspiring to have Shotley assault her neighbor. She appeared in court Monday for a settlement conference and instead had a contested omnibus hearing set for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21.
At the contested omnibus hearing, the judge will be asked to decide whether there is sufficient probable cause for Hopson-Johnson to stand trial, as well as whether statements and other evidence obtained from the her by law enforcement officers are admissible evidence at trial.
Hopson-Johnson also remains in Carlton County Jail.
Shotley is accused of breaking into the apartment of John Erlitz in Moose Lake on Aug. 21 and allegedly stabbing Erlitz repeatedly. Erlitz wrestled his way outside where numerous witnesses, including Hopson-Johnson, allegedly saw them. At that point, Shotley ran down the stairs to a vehicle driven by Lees, court documents said. The two drove away and were later stopped and arrested near
Erlitz was medically treated and released shortly after the stabbing.
