Thomas Herman Terwey, 50, of Esko, Minn., was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth after a short battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 19, 1956, in Cloquet to Herman and Phyllis (Evans) Terwey. He grew up in Esko and graduated from Esko High School in 1975. He joined the United States Navy and upon discharge came back to Esko where he worked for Savanna Pallet Inc. for almost 30 years. Tom did an excellent job caring for his father until his death in 1998. He loved singing karaoke, gaming, and hunting and fishing in his younger years.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Rhedin.
He is survived by three brothers, Tim Terwey of Austin, Texas, Terry (Cindy) Terwey of Duluth and Larry Terwey of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Susan (Brooke McLain) Langley of Cloquet and Margaret Piehowski of Mendota Heights, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. Tom will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 15, from 1 p.m. until the 2 pm. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed by a luncheon reception in the fellowship room.
The family would like to thank St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth for the wonderful care given to Tom, and also to his employer, Al Raushel of Savanna Pallet, for his special kindness.
