The Cloquet-Esko wrestling team finished seventh in the Wolf Pack Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Walker, Minn., on Friday. The Jacks managed one first place finish and a pair of second place finishes against top quality teams in the state.
Staples-Motley, a wrestling powerhouse, took top honors with 196.5 points, Fosston-Bagley was second with 174, Deer River-Northland took third, Crosby-Ironton was fourth, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley-Nevis was fifth, East Grand Forks was sixth, Cloquet-Esko took seventh and Nashwauk-Keewatin-Greenway was eighth.
Cloquet's Simon Thill took the championship in the 145-pound weight class with a 5-3 victory over Andrew Becker of Staples-Motley in the title match.
Cloquet also got two second place finishes at 103 pounds from Jordan Land and at 140 pounds from Mike Land. Jordan Land fell 10-7 to Hayden Zillmer of Crosby-Ironton in the championship and Mike Land lost on a fall to Kyle Wilson of Deer River-Northland.
Nathaniel Schulz of Cloquet had a strong showing in the 160-pound weight class, taking fourth place, and Jeremy Campbell was equally impressive at the 189-pound class by finishing fourth.

Mike Wilson and Patrick Kruchten of Cloquet finished fifth in the 112- and 152-weight classes, respectively, and Jake Baker was sixth in the 135-pound weight class.
Cloquet scored 109 points in the tournament, which was just two points behind East Grand Forks and only five behind the fifth place team from Walker.
