Cloquet played the top U-16 girls team in the area, the Gitchi Gummi team, in the first game of the tournament and lost by just a goal. In game two action, they fell to Prior Lake 5-1 with Emily Johnson picking up the lone goal for Cloquet.

Cloquet bounced back in the third game of the tournament by downing Edina 4-0 with Ashton Johnson, Emily Johnson, Sam Isaacson and Mary Keller all picking up goals.

  • Meanwhile, the Cloquet boys U-15 soccer team played Hibbing last Monday and came away with a 4-1 win.

Jake Sorenson scored two of the goals in the win for Cloquet. Cloquet's third goal was a thing of beauty when Sam Longseth made a nice tackle and then fired a shot past the Hibbing goalie. Finally Nathan Blascyk made a fancy crossing move in front of the Hibbing net before placing a shot in the corner of the cage for the fourth and final goal of the game.
