Spring truck weight restrictions will remain in effect for the central, north central and north frost zones, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced this week.
Mn/DOT ends seasonal weight limits when it determines that state highways have regained their full load-bearing capacity that is diminished by moisture during early spring thawing conditions.
He said Mn/DOT urges truckers to check the department's seasonal load limits Web site to learn the location of weight-restricted routes, changing road conditions and state highways open to 10-ton axle loads. The address is www.mrr.dot.state.mn.us . The information is also available toll-free by calling 1-800/723-6543 in the U. S. and Canada.
Travelers in Minnesota can get up-to-date information on road conditions from Mn/DOT's 511 Traveler Information Service. Dial 5-1-1 or go to the Internet at www.511mn.org .
