County Seat Theater Company will present two special performances of "Souvenir," a new comedy with music based on the real-life story of eccentric socialite Florence Foster Jenkins.

Madame Jenkins suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano when in fact she was incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune. Nevertheless, her recitals brought her extraordinary fame. RCA Victor invited her to make records and she performed at Carnegie Hall in 1944, shortly before her death. Famously her concert sold out in less than two hours. "Souvenir" is produced by The Duluth Playhouse for the Upper Midwest premier and completed a several-week run in March. The Company is performing "Souvenir" on tour this summer, with this being its first road show.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 14, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15. Tickets are available by calling the County Seat Theater box office at 591-0049 or at the door before the shows.
