Shirley Mae Brown, 78, of Cloquet died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, in Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. She was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Cloquet to Fred and Cecil (Michaud) Erickson. Shirley attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1947. On Aug. 16, 1947, she married Francis Brown in Sacred Heart Church in Cloquet. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Shirley enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, playing cards with friends, traveling out west, especially to Yellowstone, California, and Las Vegas.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, on March 12, 1999.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Brown of Andover; three sons, Steven of Minneapolis, Mark (Barb) of Carlton and Michael (Norma) of Oceanside, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Julie Foster, Robert Gehman, Janell Rewitzer, Corey Brown, Kristine, Paul and Natalie Brown.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 25, from 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary Service in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Visitation resumed from Friday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside Health Care Center and Dr. Vicki Anderson for the wonderful care they have given to Shirley.
