Saturday, Oct. 20, will mark the 20th anniversary of the "Scouting for Food" drive. Area Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturers and Girl Scouts will canvas the city of Cloquet, collecting food donations for the local food shelf.
Bags were distributed last weekend for your donation. Area residents are requested to put donations (non-perishable food or paper hygiene products) into plastic bags and place them on their door step by 10 a.m. Saturday for pick up.
If you did not receive a bag, any plastic type shopping bag will suffice. The food drive will take place regardless of weather conditions.
The "Scouting for Food" drive is a National "Good Turn" project and the largest of its type since the newspaper drives of the World War II era. Units across the country participate benefiting hundreds of thousands nationally. It not only provides food for those in need, but serves as an means to teach citizenship to our youth.
