It was a low-key, nearly seamless transition, but last week Mike Schultz of Cloquet was promoted to managing director of Sappi Fine Paper's Cloquet mill.
Schultz, an 18-year veteran with the Cloquet mill, takes over on-site management responsibilities for Tom Collins. Collins, along with his wife Beth and family, will relocate to the Boston area sometime within the next year.
Collins has been with the Cloquet mill for the past six-and-a-half years. He will remain with the company in an expanded capacity following his move.
Schultz has served as interim managing director at Sappi's Cloquet mill since December 2007.
His previous experience included serving as pulp mill production manager since Sappi acquired the mill.
