Rueben Henry Westendorf, 64, of Barnum, Minn., went home to heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. He was born in 1944 in Carlton to Arthur and Alma Westendorf. Rueben graduated from Barnum High School in 1962. He married Carol Jean Oman in 1965. Their marriage was blessed with three sons. Rueben operated a dairy farm until 1993 and then switched to raising beef cattle. Rueben was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served in numerous capacities. He was also a member of the Cloquet Community Band, Moose Lake Co-op Board and the ASCS Board. Rueben was an avid bowler, enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and most of all hunting with his three sons and playing with his granddaughters.

Rueben was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arlan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Todd (Susan) of Barnum, Troy (Melanie) of Holyoke, and Tyler (Lisa) of Wrenshall; granddaughters, Samantha, Ryan, Taylor and Avery; brother, Gordon (Susanna) of Barnum; sister, Anna Mary (David) Olson of Cloquet; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Richard) Okerlund of Esko and Norma Oman of Hanna, Ind.; and numerous family and friends.

Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 15, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Barnum. Burial was in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
