Robert Henry Peterson, 75, of Wright died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at his home. He was born in 1932 in Minneapolis to Henry and Agnes Peterson. Bob grew up and attended school in Cromwell. On June 11, 1953, he married Yvonne Smith in Mason City, Iowa. They made their home in the Proctor area for the first 10 years of their marriage. Bob worked at the Peavey Grain Elevator and later Cargill Grain Elevator until his retirement. He was a member of the Grain Millers Union. In 1964 Bob and Yvonne moved to Cromwell where he was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. In 2003 he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In 2005 Bob and Yvonne were both named the Outstanding Senior Citizens of Carlton County. Bob was an outstanding volunteer as well. He volunteered to cook twice a month at the Damiano Center, volunteered with Lutheran Brotherhood and Thrivent, and at church he was always busy doing something and was the main dishwasher. He enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, and making rugs.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Carol DesSaint.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne; daughter, Karla (Chuck Lubowitz) Peterson of Motley; sons, Brad of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Keith (Lynn) and Butch (Pam), both of Cromwell; grandchildren, David and Mike Lubowitz, Megan Benson, Shawn, Christopher, Brandi and Joshua Peterson, and Cody Scavezze; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Benson; his brother, Carlyle (Tina) Peterson of Georgia; sisters, Karen (David) Pitkanen of Minneapolis, Ruth (Gary) Warren of Oregon, and Marlyce Strauss of California.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 7, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Burial will be in the spring in Forest Hill Cemetery in Cromwell.
