At halftime of their Tuesday night game against Hermantown, the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels girls basketball team trailed by five points. Despite playing a strong second half, the Rebels lost their second game in a row, this time 51-48 to Hermantown at home.
The Hawks took a 30-25 lead into the locker room at halftime mainly on the ability of Ahna Metsa to score against the Rebels. Metsa finished with a game-high 22 points.
However, in the second half the Rebels were able to outscore the Hawks 23-21, but unfortunately the halftime deficit was just a little too much to overcome.
ML-WR actually made two more field goals than did the Hawks, but Hermantown got four three-pointers and that was enough to overcome the difference. Hermantown also went 15-for-28 from the free-throw line, while the Rebels were 12-for-15.
Hillary Peterson led the Rebels with 18 points, Natasha Dragiecavich added 11, Allie Adamczak finished with eight, while Rachel Mach and Amanda Larson each score four points and Taryn Davis finished with three points.
