After a tough loss to Virginia on Thursday, the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebel boys basketball team rebounded to take a 59-41 victory over Cromwell on Friday.
The Rebels fell to Virginia 80-70 on Thursday as they had trouble finding a way to stop Keaton Romsaas, Will Jackson and Craig Skalko of the Blue Devils. Romsaas scored 27 points, Jackson added 19 and Skalko finished with 17 points for Virginia.
Nate Zuk led the Rebels with 19 points, it was 15 points for Joe Bohaty, Jim Mach scored 12, Travis Wagers chipped in with seven, it was three points for Austin Jacobson and Brian Bothwell scored a pair of points.
- On Friday night, the Rebels crept ahead of Cromwell 28-19 at halftime and then pushed ahead to a final score of 59-41.
Zuk poured in 22 points, Bohaty added 17, Mach recorded eight points, it was Wagers and Brennan Caroline with three points apiece, and Bothwell, Taylor Davis and Andrew Shelton each had a pair of points for the Rebels.
Tyler Burggraff led the Cards with 21 points, Adam Smith had seven points, it was five points each for Cody Smith and Jordan Smith and Cody Hendrickson finished with three points.
