The Carlton County Board of Commissioners scheduled a public hearing May 24 to address comments and concerns regarding a new parking ordinance that seeks to regulate public parking along county roads.

If passed, the ordinance will prohibit parking along county highways, county state-aid highways and other roads subject to the ordinance for longer periods of time than allowed by posted signs. It will also ban parking in front of public and private driveways and places where signs prohibit public parking.

Any vehicles found to be in violation of the ordinance would be subject to monetary fines and towing.

The hearing is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the Carlton County Transportation Building.

Written comments may be mailed to Carlton County Auditor, P.O. Box 130, Carlton, MN 55718.
