It was a night of high energy and entertainment in Barnum last Monday when the Polar League Boys and Girls All-Star basketball games were played in front of an energetic group of fans. In both cases the Blue team came away victorious.
In the boys game the Blue team got strong performances from Jake Olson and Jake Root, who scored 21 and 18 points, respectively. They also hit 11 of the 19 three-pointers the Blue team made in their 110-106 win.
Chris Hansmann of Wrenshall pumped in 18 points to lead the White team in offense, while Willie Carlson of Barnum added 17 points. Also in double digits for the White team was Aaron Mettling of Wrenshall with 15 points. Mettling also took honors in the three-point shooting contest prior to the game.
Also in double digits for the Blue team were Ben Scharnberg of Floodwood with 13, it was 11 for Esko's Scott Lindquist, Jonathan Ramey added 11, and Kevin Rengo of Esko and Eric Sather of McGregor both finished with 10 points. Capping off the scoring were Matt Ostby of Carlton with six, Jimmy Mach from Moose Lake-Willow River with five, and Justin Schwartz of Carlton added four points.
Also scoring for the White team were Cody Hendrickson of Cromwell with eight, Josh Earlywine of Barnum with two points, Micah Kantonen of Barnum scored six, Jon Michalski of Cook County finished with 16, Josh Tahja added two, it was Joe Bednar of ML-WR scoring 10 and Fordes Lodin from Two Harbors scored 11.

- On the girls side Colleen McKay of Barnum dumped in 16 points in leading the Blue team to an 84-74 win and Lacey Sprague of McGregor finished with 15 points.
Also scoring for the Blue team were Amber Bloom of Carlton with eight, Megan Myhre of Barnum scored nine, Christine Bryant of Carlton finished with a pair of points, Danielle Anderson and Samantha Anderson of Wrenshall added 11 and nine points, respectively, Ashley Langila of Esko scored eight, Jessica Benson of Barnum chipped in with five, and Kasey Palmer of Floodwood finished with five.
The White team scoring consisted of nine for Sami Mattson of Esko, Katherine Michalski finished with three, Destany Nummela of ML-WR scored two, Wrenshall's Dana Anderson and Amber Ryan of Esko each scored eight, ML-WR's Hillary Peterson pumped in 10, Katie Sjostrom finished with three, Rachel Bohnen of Cook County scored 19 to lead the team, Jade Baxley of Esko added nine, and Carlton's Elissa Sandstrom scored three points.
