Floodwood improved to 5-2 and surprised Wrenshall 30-8 on Friday night in a Great Northern Conference football game played in Wrenshall.

Chance Hutchinson passed for a pair of touchdowns in leading the Polar Bears to the victory. Included in Hutchinson's passes was the opening score - a 9-yard touchdown pass to Josh Tahja in the first quarter. Ryan Berndsorf added a 5-yard touchdown run also in the first quarter to give Floodwood a 12-0 lead after the opening stanza.

Wrenshall quarterback John Moder cut into the lead with an 8-yard touchdown run before halftime and Moder then hit John Bartczak for a two-point conversion to pull the Wrens to within 12-8 at the break, but that would be the only time Wrenshall would score.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Polar Bears scored twice in the final quarter when Hutchinson hit Steven Lyke on a 23-yard touchdown strike and then on an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown by Scot Tamminen.
