Paul Edward Proulx, 58, a lifelong resident of Cloquet, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at his home with his family at his side. He was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Cloquet to Louis and Mardelle (LeMay) Proulx and graduated from Cloquet High School. Paul was united in marriage to Davis "Davie" Hammett Oct. 5, 1968, in Cloquet and they were married for 38 years. He worked at Potlatch for 10 years prior to owning and operating Paul's Service Station on Cloquet Avenue from 1985-1994. Paul was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1163 and served as secretary for many years. He loved building things and woodworking in his garage where numerous "Morning Coffee Crew" friends would gather. Paul especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Davie; one son, Steven (Kathy) Proulx of Cloquet; two daughters, Lori Proulx of St. Cloud and Toni Proulx of Cloquet; his mother, Mardelle Proulx of Cloquet; two brothers, David Proulx of Iowa and Don (Elisa) Proulx of Culver; six sisters, Julie (Don) Johnson of Park Lake, Rita (Mick) Maslowski of Michigan, Margi Proulx of Cloquet, Barb (Mark) Brown of Carlton, Mary (Don) Hoyt of Duluth, and Teresa Proulx of Duluth; one grandson and "best friend," Brady Proulx; two granddaughters, his "pretty girls," Brooke and Blythe Proulx; 17 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet. The visitation will resume Saturday, Jan. 6, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 12th Street and Doddridge Avenue, Cloquet, conducted by the Rev. Rollie Bockbrader. Internment will be in New Calvary Cemetery.
