The victim of a house fire in Solway Township on Thursday, March 26, has been identified as 37-year-old Damien Michael Rosen.

Rosen had been living at the home for two to three weeks and has ties to the San Bernardino, Calif., area, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reported Friday.

The Sheriff's Office said Rosen died in the fire at 6212 Morris Thomas Road that was reported just before 3 p.m. Thursday.

Although a formal cause of death has not yet been determined by the county Medical Examiner's Office, "initial findings suggest that Rosen died from asphyxiation due to smoke/carbon monoxide inhalation,'' the Sheriff's Office reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by the State Fire Marshal's Office, but the fire "does not appear to be suspicious in nature," the Sheriff's Office said.

The Solway, Hermantown, Canosia, Grand Lake and Proctor fire departments responded to the fire.
