The Northland Foundation welcomes three new members to its Board of Trustees and announces 2007-08 Officers. New Trustees are:
Marieta Johnson, Virginia, is court administrator for Minnesota's Sixth Judicial District. She was a founding member of the Virginia Foundation (1990-2005) and a program assistant for the Northland Foundation from 1988-1993. Johnson is currently a member of the State Court Operations Advisory Workgroup, State Court Staffing Weighted Caseload Committee, and the Range Drug Court Planning Team.
Diane Rauschenfels, Proctor, is the superintendent of Proctor Schools and an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University. The former math and English teacher has also served in the position of assistant principal, district human rights officer and Title IX administrator and, later, principal at Hermantown and Proctor high schools.
Ed Zabinski, Grand Rapids, is the president of Motherlode North America, a Grand Rapids-based company providing technology and business solutions to the electric utility industry nationwide. He is also the owner of Zabinski Consulting, specializing in organizational development facilitation, human resource management, and public affairs counseling. Prior professional experience includes 20 years as an executive at Blandin Paper Company, Grand Rapids, in the areas of public and governmental affairs, human resources, and labor relations; staff work for Congressman Jim Oberstar; and executive directorship of a citizens' lobbying group, the Boundary Waters Conservation Alliance.

Barbara Dorry - chair, executive director of KOOTASCA Community Action, Grand Rapids; Cindy Hanson - vice chair, co-owner of Sawbill Canoe Outfitters, Tofte; Kenneth A. Johnson - secretary/treasurer, consulting engineer, Aitkin.

David Clusiau, co-owner of Hibbing Chrysler Center, Hibbing; Jeff Corey, executive director of Northern Communities Land Trust, Duluth; Ed Crawford, principal of Denfeld High School, Duluth; Rachel Kincade, executive director of Life House, Duluth; Nancy Norr, manager - Regional Development for Minnesota Power, an ALLETE Company, Duluth; Claudia Otos, retired early childhood coordinator for Proctor-Hermantown, Hermantown; and Chuck Walt, associate director - Human Services Division for the Fond du Lac Reservation, Cloquet.
The Northland Foundation is a resource for people, businesses, and communities working toward prosperity through economic and social justice in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis Counties. The Grant Program is focused on children and youth/strengthening families, poverty alleviation/self-reliance, and programming to help older adults remain vital and independent. The Business Finance Program provides loans to help grow a sustainable economy. The KIDS PLUS family of programs is focused on improving the well-being of children and youth.
