The Northland Foundation awarded 51 grants totaling $262,176 to nonprofit programs and projects in northeastern Minnesota between July 1 and Sept. 30. The Foundation's longtime interest in the well-being of children and youth was demonstrated last quarter with numerous grants to projects and programs that support the next generation, from birth to adulthood.
The Carlton County Children and Family program, based in Cloquet, received a $1,000 Strengthening Families Grant to support the evaluation of the Carlton County Collaborative Young Parent Program through the use of an intern from the University of Minnesota Community Assistantship Program.
The Northland Foundation is a resource for people, businesses, and communities working toward prosperity through economic and social justice in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties. The Grant Program directs resources to nonprofits addressing children and youth/strengthening families, poverty alleviation/self-reliance, and programming to help older adults remain vital and independent.
