Between April and June 2008, the Northland Foundation awarded 51 grants totaling $317,133. A number of larger grants were made within the foundation's Aging with Independence priority area, directing resources to nonprofit programs designed to help older adults to remain valued, vital, and independent.
One grant was awarded in the Carlton County area - North Country R.I.D.E., located in Esko, was awarded $5,000 to expand program capacity by increasing hours and offering new riding opportunities for people with physical disabilities.
