A new CT scanner was recently installed in the Radiology Department at Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet, that produces twice as many pictures compared with the previous scanner.
The new machine is capable of taking 16 pictures in the same amount of time that the old scanner created eight.
Images from the new GE BrightSpeed scanner are a higher resolution and more detailed than the old unit.
Because it is faster and covers a larger area of the body in a shorter time, patients do not have to hold their breath as long. For patients, the new scanner with its enhanced qualities means they are able to complete their appointments more quickly than before.
