Moose Lake Area Historical Society gives antique appraisals report

Antique Appraisals with Steve Wesely, of Cresent Auctioneering, were held on Tuesday, May 4at the Moose Lake Civic Center at 1 p.m. Twelve individuals participated in the event.

The first "star" of the show was a Roseville Jardiniere. It could clearly be identified as Roseville, Donatello pattern, even though it was unmarked. It was in very good condition. Presenter did not have the ceramic stand that would have gone with the object. Estimated value $250-275.

The second "star" of the show was a Waltham, ladies, hunters case watch, with a gold filled case. It had a very decorative dial, and was in running condition. Steve was unable to easily get the back open to assess the number of jewels. Circa 1930. Estimated value $150-200.

Several paper articles from the WW I era were presented. The first one was a certificate indicating that the individual had been buying bonds. It was signed by several officials from the U.S. Government. Estimated value $14-16. The second was a certificate from the U.S. Food Administration. It, however, was machine signed. Estimated value $8-12.

A very early electric toaster was presented. It toasted the bread in a horizontal position, and with a flip of the wrist, turn to the other side. Some condition issues. Circa 1930 or earlier. Estimated value $20-30.

An unopened box of"Gold Dust" washing powder by Leaver Brothers was shown. This item is circa 1940. This item was in mint condition. Estimated value $40-60.

A series of vintage post cards were presented. Each worth $1-2, with the exception being one of the Duluth Ship Canal with an outgoing freighter, estimated at $10-12.

A toy hand cranked steam shovel was presented. Some condition problems, like it was missing its bucket. Item was well played with. Circa 1950. Estimated value $50-70.

Several pieces of cost um jewelry/decorative buttons were shown. All were quite decorative and in good condition. None of them were singed. Estimated age of items, Circa 1945. Estimated value on all of $14-22 each.

A large box of admission tickets, which contained four different sets/rolls of tickets in varying prices. Estimated value $10-15. However, if you could find someone who was looking for vintage equipment for something, you could get much more.

An emerald green cat figurine was shown. It was in good condition. Estimated value $3-5.

A Blue Delft style kitchen clock with a German movement, circa 1930, was shown. It is in working condition, and has the original key. Estimated value $95-135.

A Hull vase, mid sized, and in mint condition was shown. Estimated value $50-70.

A shell and pipe cleaner novelty doll was shown. It was hand painted and colored. Estimated age circa 1950. Estimated value $14-16.

A pressed glass tooth pick holder and small cream pitcher were shown. Both of them had a clear red lacquer applies to the part of the items. Would have to be washed/cleaned with care, as this would wash off. Estimated age circa 1940. Estimated value $10-12 each.

The next appraisals will be held at the Depot and Fires of 1918 Museum on Tuesday Tuesday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m.
