The spectacular career of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton swimmer Grace Moores came to a close last weekend at the Minnesota State High School Swim Meet at the Aquatics Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Moores, who won the Section 5A title in both the 100- and 200-meter freestyle disciplines, had a strong showing in the state meet despite not making the finals in either event.
In the 200 freestyle, Moores won the consolation round and finished in ninth place overall by beating eight other swimmers with a time of 1 minute 58.54 seconds.
Ironically, Moores' time in that race would have been good enough to give her sixth place in the finals, had she made the final eight.
The 100 freestyle saw Moores finish 11th with a time of 54.93 in the finals after swimming a 54.72 in the preliminaries.
