The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), with the help of Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) as a major sponsor, has released its 28th annual Minnesota Grown Directory.
"Consumers are looking for fresh choices when it comes to finding food to put on their table," said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union president. "This directory gives consumers a great resource to finding fresh, locally-grown food that they can buy directly from the farmer."
The directory lists nearly 680 Minnesota farmers, nurseries, berry patches and farmers' markets that offer local food and other agricultural products.
"Minnesota Farmers Union works hard to promote and improve the lives of family farmers and consumers, both rural and urban," said Peterson. "That is why the partnership with the MDA in producing the Minnesota Grown Directory and MFU go hand-in-hand; both are striving to help support and build a strong, local, rural economy by helping consumers find the wonderful products grown right here in Minnesota."

"From alpaca fiber and apples to yak meat and yarn - and everything in between - consumers can find plenty of choices of locally grown food and other products," said Hugunin.
The Minnesota Grown program has more than 20 years of success providing information to consumers about healthy food choices. Due to consumer demand, the Minnesota Grown Program printed 10,000 more directories than last year, for a total of 185,000 copies this year.
