Mediacom Communications is offering $50,000 in scholarship support for high school students who are seniors and plan to obtain further education. For the seventh consecutive year, as many as 50 high school seniors will be awarded Mediacom World Class Scholarships worth $1,000 each.

Recipients may use the financial awards to support educational expenses they will incur in the fall of 2008 as they pursue higher education or vocational training from any accredited post-secondary institution. Mediacom World Class Scholarships are available to students who live in five Midwestern states where the cable and broadband company provides telecommunication services - Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois and Wisconsin. In recent years nearly 300 students have received the $1,000 scholarships.

Applications for the Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program have been mailed to area high schools. Students are encouraged to contact high school counselors for applications or contact Mediacom directly. The deadline for submitting completed applications is March 15, 2008.

All completed scholarship applications must include a brief essay on leadership, the applicant's school transcript and two letters of recommendation. Applications must be sent on or before March 15.
