Marvin Arthur Stenroos, 80, of Cloquet passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Cloquet to Arthur and Aili (Tan) Stenroos and started sailing the Great Lakes at the age of 17 with the Wilson Steam Ship Company. Marvin was united in marriage to Patricia Jubie in June 1950. He worked for the U.S. Steel Company in Duluth and then the Northwest Paper Company/Potlatch Corporation until he retired in 1989. He also served in the United States Army just after World War II. Marvin was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1163, and the Carl Anderson American Legion Post #262 of Cloquet. He loved fishing and camping with their motor home and made three trips to Alaska to visit his son Terry. Most especially he loved his wife Patricia and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Terry Stenroos of the North Pole, Alaska, and Tim (Paula Forstner) Stenroos of Esko; two grandchildren, Holly (Chad) Vermeersch of Cloquet and Derek Stenroos of Ft. Drum, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Madi and Emily Vermeersch.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, officiated by the Rev. Michael Fossen. A luncheon followed in the fellowship room.
