Marjorie Rayner Carlson, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at her home in Cloquet. Marge worked in the Cloquet School District for 17 years, and spent her retirement years working with Books for Babies and the Power Lunch Reading Program. As an avid reader, she was a reading tutor to many. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend, and will be so missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Esther Rayner of Barnum; brothers, Bill and John; sisters, Judy, Loila and Mary "Bunny."
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Arthur J. Carlson; her children, Bruce Carlson (Kathy Irons), Deborah Carlson (Robin Gault), Loila Mickelson, Brigit Cousin (Jim) and Blake Carlson (Michele); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jeanette Baymler.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 5-6:30 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service, in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue Thursday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Spring burial will be in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson Township.
Before she died, Marge asked that any memorials go to the Cloquet Salvation Army Food Shelf; she never wanted anyone to be hungry.
