Icy road conditions led to a deadly one-vehicle accident early last Tuesday morning.
Errol J. Gilbertson, 63, of Fond du Lac, Wis., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Highway 23 near the Pine County border.
At 5:56 a.m. Dec. 12 Gilbertson's semi truck hit an icy patch on a curve on southbound Highway 23. The rear end of the trailer he was hauling went off the road and pulled the tractor down a ravine, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol. Gilbertson was ejected from the vehicle. It is unknown whether or not he was wearing a seat belt.
