Lynda Duesler, 65, of Barnum, died peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2008, at home with her family by her side after a courageous year and a half battle with cancer. She was born on September 30, 1942, to Lynn and Dorothy VanDerWerff in Worthington, Minn. where she attended school through the ninth grade. Lynda then moved to Barnum and attended Barnum High School graduating in 1960. She attended Duluth Wanners Cosmetology School and later worked in Duluth at a beauty shop for a short time. On January 20, 1962, Lynda married Kenneth Duesler in Barnum. Lynda worked with her mother at the Barnum Beauty Shop for several years. She also worked as a beautician for Mercy Health Care Center and Horizons Assisted Living. Lynda had an excellent rapport with her clients and was very close to them and this showed through the many cards of support she received from several of her clients. She was very active in the community and was a member of the Barnum Community Club and the Barnum Community United Methodist Church. Lynda was also a 4-H Leader and Chairman of the Charity Drive for the United Way.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lynn VanDerWerff.

Lynda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth; three daughters, Lauri Duesler of Radcliff, Ky.; Caren (Ryan) Warner of Woodbury, Minn.; and Cheryl (Robert) Kangas of Aitkin, Minn.; a son, David (Julie) Duesler of Barnum; eight grandchildren, Linnea Warner, Justin Warner, Jade Duesler, Jana Kangas, Tyler Kangas, Kyle Duesler, Karianna Duesler, and Nathan Duesler; her mother, Dorothy (Bob) Shore of Worthington, Minn.; three brothers, Larry VanDerWerff of Duluth, Minn., Donald (Judy) VanDerWerff of Thomson, and Virgil (Dawn) VanDerWerff of Barnum; a sister, Doris (Rodney) Dahl of Barnum; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on June 7, in Barnum Community United Methodist Church. Pastor Lee Kantonen officiated. Music was provided by Lori Koski, Lois Hassett, and Deb Thieling. Honorary Bearers were Lynda's grandchildren: Linnea Warner, Justin Warner, Jade Duesler, Jana Kangas, Tyler Kangas, Kyle Duesler, Karianna Duesler, and Nathan Duesler.
