Loretta Marie Tyman Anderson passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. She was born Jan. 12, 1913, in Maple Lake Township to Sylvester and Alice (Martin) Tyman. During World War II, Loretta worked for the Red Cross in Milwaukee and in Long Beach, Calif. She attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Beach State College. She taught elementary education in Minnesota and Long Beach until her retirement. Loretta and her husband, Lysle, then moved to Kansas where she lived until Lysle's death in 1998 when she moved to Cloquet and lived with her sister Lucille. She is the author of two published children's books, Michael McGillicudy and Julio, plus other stories in children's magazines.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Lysle; parents, Sylvester and Alice; sisters, Blanche, Lucille and Imelda; and brothers, Otto, Raymond, Clement and Patrick.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all of those who have taken such good care of Loretta in the past year, including Evergreen Knoll, Keystone Bluffs and Benedictine Health Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Queen of Peace School and the Cloquet Educational Foundation.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet, followed by a luncheon reception in the church social hall. Inurnment was at Old Calvary Cemetery.
