CARLTON — A Sawyer man who is facing charges of sexual assault and assault with a dangerous weapon was arrested in Carlton County May 28 after more than a year evading arrest.
Jamin Paul Beardsley, 46, was arrested after being sought by the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office since a warrant was issued for his arrest in April 2021.

Beardsley was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault stemming from two separate instances in 2019.
According to the criminal complaints, Beardsley is accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in his home in July 2019, and in a separate incident, threatening a different woman with a gun during a domestic dispute in November 2019.
Carlton County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Dan Danielson said law enforcement officers made several attempts to arrest Beardsley without success.

"Safe to say he had been avoiding us," Danielson said.
Beardsley attended a remote hearing when his pretrial release was revoked and a warrant for his arrest was issued, so he had been avoiding the department from the minute the warrant was issued, Danielson said.
"We are happy he was taken into custody safely," Danielson said. "I'm sure the victims were waiting for this day, and the courts will follow through."
Beardsley's next court appearance was scheduled for Monday, June 13.
