Linnea S. Westling, 86, of Scanlon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet. She was born March 25, 1920, in Duluth to Andrew and Anna Sandelin and graduated from Central High School. Linnea worked and retired as the office manager for Westinghouse Electrical Supply. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zioneers in Cloquet, and also the Duluth Boating Club and a sewing club with close girlfriends. Linnea enjoyed boating, music, cooking, baking, making candy and gardening.
Linnea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Westling; one brother, Carl Sandelin and one nephew, James A. Sandelin, Sr.
She is survived by her special friend, Bruce Ripplinger of Cloquet; and three nieces, Marianne Lundgren of Austin, Texas, Kathleen Bonewitz of Lexington Park, Md., and Jeannette Sandelin of Slidell, La.
Visitation was held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation resumed Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Paul and Rev. Barbara Birkeland. Pallbearers were Jeff Isaacson, Mark Anderson, Jim Peterson, Mel Korby, Rick Solots, and Cully Sarine. Interment services were at Bethany Cemetery in Hermantown.
